Betway Sister Sites

Which brands genuinely share Betway's owner, which merely share its game suppliers, and what actually carries over to a Canadian account if you move.

Who Actually Owns Betway

Betway belongs to Super Group (SGHC) Limited, a company listed on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker SGHC. Super Group runs two things: Betway, which is the sportsbook-and-casino brand, and Spin, which is a portfolio of around sixteen separate casino brands including several that have been online since the late nineties. A public listing matters here for a dull but useful reason — the ownership structure is filed rather than asserted, so you can check it instead of trusting a comparison page.

That distinction is the whole point of this page. A genuine sister site inherits the things you actually care about: how quickly the group pays, how strict verification is, how a dispute gets handled, who picks up the chat. A site that merely licenses the same slots from the same suppliers inherits none of it. Two lobbies can look identical, run the same jackpot games and share nothing else whatsoever.

In Canada the ownership question has a second layer, because a brand can be legal in one province and unavailable in the next. Betway has been registered with the AGCO and operating under an agreement with iGaming Ontario since April 2022. Alberta opened its own regulated market on 13 July 2026, and Super Group has until 13 October 2026 to move its brands across under the transition arrangement the provincial regulator allowed. Outside Ontario and Alberta there is no private provincial licence in existence for anyone to hold, so the licence in the footer will be an offshore one.

Pick a brand to see who operates it, where it is regulated for Canadian players, and exactly which register to verify that in yourself. No number here is worth more than the register it came from.

AGCO

Ontario's regulator. Registers every operator allowed to serve the province and publishes the list.

Registered operators

iGaming Ontario

Holds the operating agreements and lists every approved site, brand by brand.

AGLC · Alberta

Offshore registers

Where a footer names Malta or Kahnawake, the number is verifiable in that authority's own register.

MGA · Kahnawake

The two-minute check. Open the brand's homepage, scroll to the very bottom and read the small print. You are looking for a registered company name, a company number and a registration or licence number. Compare those against Betway's footer. Same company, related. Different company, unrelated — no matter how similar the games look, and no matter what a sister-site list says.

The Sister Sites That Hold Up

These four share Betway's parent company rather than just its supplier list, and all of them were approved alongside Betway for the regulated Ontario market. That is the strongest form of "sister site" available in Canada: same owner, same regulator, same underlying obligations.

Spin Casino

The flagship of the Spin portfolio and the clearest genuine sibling. Casino-only, so no sportsbook, with a game library that leans heavily on the long-established studios.

Same parent · Approved for Ontario

JackpotCity

Online since 1998 and one of the most recognisable names in Canadian online gambling, with a heavy progressive-jackpot focus and a long history of local sponsorship.

Same parent · Approved for Ontario

Royal Vegas

A classic-lobby brand from the same portfolio. Fewer new releases than Betway, a loyalty programme that rewards steady low-stakes play rather than volume.

Same parent · Approved for Ontario

Ruby Fortune

Launched in 2003, smaller and simpler than its siblings. Worth a look if the size of a modern lobby is the thing putting you off rather than the terms.

Same parent · Approved for Ontario

Gaming Club and Lucky Nugget also sit inside the wider Spin portfolio and are among the oldest casino brands still trading, but they are not part of the group's Ontario line-up — so for a player in the regulated market they are a different proposition entirely. Check the footer of any of them before treating a list, including this one, as current.

Same Platform, Different Owner

This is where most bad sister-site lists come from. Hundreds of casinos license their games from the same small group of suppliers, so their lobbies look near-identical: the same jackpot slots in the same order, the same live dealer studios, the same layout conventions borrowed from the same platform provider. None of that implies shared ownership, and none of it tells you anything about how a payout will be handled.

The tell is always the footer. A shared platform shows up in the game grid; shared ownership shows up in the registered company name at the bottom of the page. If two sites list different companies with different registration numbers, they are unrelated businesses that happen to buy from the same wholesalers — and the fact that both stock Book of Dead means precisely as much as two supermarkets both stocking the same brand of milk.

Be particularly careful with lists that name a dozen "Betway sister sites" without naming a single company. That is the signature of a page assembled from other pages rather than from a register, and the errors in it propagate.

Why People Go Looking for an Alternative

The welcome offer is already used

A perfectly reasonable motive, and the one a group is least likely to reward — one offer per person across a group is the standard rule, and shared systems make it easy to spot.

A payment method is missing

Payment lists differ by brand even within one owner. If your bank is blocking one cashier, a sibling with a different processor may genuinely help.

The lobby is too big

A three-thousand-game grid is not universally an advantage. The older sibling brands run smaller, calmer catalogues, and some people find that a better experience.

An account was closed or restricted

The one case where a sister site is the wrong answer. If a group closed your account, opening a second one inside the same group is a route to the same outcome, faster.

Five Brands, Compared Honestly

Ownership from company filings, availability from the provincial registers, everything else from the brands' own published terms at the review date. Where a figure moves often, this table says so rather than pretending to a precision it does not have.

Brand Relationship Ontario Sportsbook Best for
Betway The brand this site covers Registered since 2022 Yes Casino and sports in one account
Spin Casino Same parent Approved No Casino-only players who want no sports clutter
JackpotCity Same parent Approved No Progressive jackpot chasing
Royal Vegas Same parent Approved No Steady low-stakes play with a loyalty scheme
Ruby Fortune Same parent Approved No A smaller, simpler lobby

Availability changes. Before you register anywhere, confirm the brand in the iGaming Ontario site list or the AGLC register for your province — that takes a minute and outranks any comparison table, this one included.

Rules That Apply Across the Whole Group

One welcome offer per person

Not per brand. The group can see the same name, address, device and payment method arriving at a second cashier, and claiming twice is treated as bonus abuse rather than a clever manoeuvre.

Self-exclusion travels, and in a regulated province it travels further

Inside a group, an exclusion at one brand applies at the others. In Ontario and Alberta the centralized provincial registers go wider still, suspending you across every registered operator rather than one company's brands.

Verification does not travel

This one goes the other way and surprises people. Documents approved at one brand usually have to be uploaded again at the sibling, because each holds its own account record. Budget for a second round of paperwork.

Balances stay put

There is no internal transfer between brands. To move money you withdraw from one and deposit to the other, which means one payout cycle and one deposit, with all the usual timings.

Risk scoring is shared

A pattern that triggered a review at one brand can follow you to another under the same owner. That is the flip side of shared ownership and it is worth knowing before you treat a sibling as a fresh start.

What Carries Over If You Switch

The honest before-and-after for a Canadian player moving from Betway to a brand under the same owner.

At Betway At the sister brand Carries over?
Your account and login A new registration from scratch No
Verified documents Usually a fresh upload No
Your balance Withdraw, then deposit again No
Loyalty tier and points Back to the bottom rung No
Welcome offer eligibility Already used inside the group Usually not
Self-exclusion Applies across the group, and province-wide where registered Yes
Risk and fraud history Visible to the same owner Yes
Deposit and payout speeds Broadly similar under one owner Broadly

When a Sister Site Is the Wrong Answer

There are three situations where moving to a sibling brand makes things worse rather than better, and they are worth stating plainly because no comparison page has an incentive to.

The first is a closed or restricted account. If a group has ended your relationship with one brand, registering at another brand under the same owner is not a fresh start — it is the same risk system, and the second account tends to be caught faster than the first. The second is chasing a welcome offer you have already used inside the group: at best it does not attach, at worst all the accounts get reviewed together. The third, and the one that actually matters, is looking for a sister site because you want to keep playing after you decided to stop.

If that last one landed: a self-exclusion registered in Ontario or Alberta applies across every operator registered in that province, not just one brand, which is exactly what makes it worth using. Free, confidential help is available across Canada through the Responsible Gambling Council, and in Ontario through ConnexOntario, which runs a 24-hour line.

Sister Site Questions

Who owns Betway?

Betway is one of the two halves of Super Group (SGHC) Limited, a company listed on the New York Stock Exchange. The other half is Spin, a portfolio of roughly sixteen casino brands. That shared parent is what makes a brand a genuine Betway sister site rather than a lookalike.

What are the real Betway sister sites in Canada?

Spin Casino, JackpotCity, Royal Vegas and Ruby Fortune all sit under the same Super Group parent and were approved alongside Betway for the regulated Ontario market. Everything else marketed as a "Betway sister" is usually a brand that licenses the same games.

Is Betway licensed in Canada?

In Ontario, yes — Betway has been registered with the AGCO and operating under an agreement with iGaming Ontario since April 2022. Alberta opened its own regulated market on 13 July 2026 and Super Group has until 13 October 2026 to complete its transition there. Outside those two provinces there is no provincial private licence to hold.

How do I check whether two casinos are really related?

Scroll to the very bottom of each site, note the registered company name and the licence or registration number, then look that number up in the issuing regulator's own register. Same company, related. Different company, unrelated, however similar the lobbies look.

Does my Betway account work on a sister site?

No. Each brand is a separate account with its own registration, its own verification and its own balance. Nothing transfers automatically, and a document approved at one brand usually has to be uploaded again at the other.

If I self-exclude from Betway, does it cover the sister sites?

Inside a regulated province it should: both Ontario and Alberta run centralized self-exclusion, which suspends you across every registered operator rather than one brand at a time. Outside those provinces, self-exclusion is per operator and you would have to repeat it at each brand.

Can I claim the welcome offer at every sister site?

One welcome offer per person across a group is the standard rule, and shared risk systems make it easy to enforce. Claiming the same offer at three brands under one owner is the fastest way to have all three accounts reviewed at once.

Does shared ownership mean the sites are equally good?

It means the payout policy, the verification standards and often the support desk are similar. It says nothing about the game library, the bonus terms or the payment list, which differ brand to brand and should be judged on their own.
